Anxiety Remedies

Anxiety is an expression of the (fight or flight response).  Each person has a different reaction to a perceived threat. Some just take what comes with ambivalence while others experience effects of immense proportion. Those who anticipate disaster or have exaggerated worries about a wide range of issues can have:

  • Heart palpitations
  • Nausea
  • Panic
  • Chest pain
  • Shortness of breath
  • Stomach flutters

Even when the person is aware that their worrying is unnecessary it is hard to control the feelings.

Homeopathy has remedies for anxiety that do not produce side effects and have the potential to cure. Depending on your individual variety of anxiety the following remedies are recommended.

  • Arsenicum: this person does their best to mask the anxiety. They often cover their discomfort with a smile that can easily become a grimace. They would deny any problem, are inflexible and would not readily admit to their anxiety.
  • Causticum: this person is timid, nervous and fearful. They are afraid of the dark and often have nervous diarrhea. They also smile, have outward charm, and intense concern for the pain and suffering of others. They have recurring warts, tension in the throat and neck. All symptoms are worse at twilight.
  • Phosphorus: this remedy is linked with extreme nervousness and sensitivity. As with Causticum the symptoms increase at twilight. Also music and thunder aggravate. This remedy needs to be liked and loved and the severe nervousness is often hidden beneath their need of others and social contact.
  • Natrum mur: in this remedy the anxiety is concealed because they want to avoid the sympathy and concern of others. The idea of anyone interfering with them is intolerable. The more they conceal the higher the anxiety.
